Coeliac UK provides gluten free accreditation to organisations wanting to highlight that they can safely produce and serve gluten free food.
The market for gluten free foods is on the increase with an estimated 1.3 million Britons now on a gluten free diet, whether that is as a result of the medical treatment for coeliac disease or to control symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or non-coeliac gluten sensitivity. Demand for gluten free menu options has never been greater and coffee shops, restaurants, pubs and other eating out establishments are seeing the business benefits of catering for this market.
For over 50 years Coeliac UK have been the experts on the gluten free diet. We are an independent charity helping people living without gluten to live happier, healthier lives. We do this providing our community, including 65,000 plus members with trustworthy advice and support, funding critical research and working with healthcare professionals. We are working with others to ensure better availability of gluten free food across the retail, health, education and travel sectors.
We believe the catering industry is missing an estimated £100 million each year by not catering for people with coeliac disease along with their friends and family. Among our members, the biggest issue is how to eat with confidence outside the home - where they are no longer in control. This applies to the workplace, hospitals, schools, whilst travelling and all manner of social activities.
The supply of gluten-free foods in the current food service sector is not keeping up with demand.
Our gluten free symbol is recognised and trusted by those requiring a gluten free diet. We provide accreditation to organisations that want to highlight they can safely cater for gluten free foods.
Our community of accredited caterers is rapidly growing, why don`t you join us?
