Your Perfect Match-a

Matcha! You’ve probably seen it somewhere or was introduced to it by one of your hippie friends! They might have given you a latte and you might have hated it. If this sounds anything like you then we have A LOT in common. When I was first introduced to Matcha, I didn’t enjoy it one bit. In fact, I dare say I hated it. However, this mean, green productivity machine grew on me like white on rice!

Matcha, a Japanese green tea powder packed with powerful antioxidants is nothing to gloss over. This powder is incredible. It is an excellent source of energy as it naturally contains caffeine. All teas from the tea plant contain caffeine. Yes, you read that correctly. So this means black, white and green tea all have caffeine. However, though Matcha has caffeine, there is one amazing property that makes the caffeine in Matcha different than that of coffee. It has an amino acid called L-theanine that allows for a slow steady release. This means you have a smooth flow of energy for longer which also reduces the possibility of you feeling jittery or shaky.

L-theanine is pretty amazing. It triggers the release of serotonin in the brain, which acts as a mood booster. So you may literally feel good after drinking Matcha. L-theanine also boosts alpha brain waves which are associated with a heightened state of alertness. It interacts with the caffeine to sharpen brain function and boost cognitive performance. In addition to L-theanine, Matcha also has a ton of other amazing health benefits. So, drinking Matcha will do wonders for your body.

Now that you know how incredible this powder is for your body, how best can you have it? Well, for one, I wouldn’t recommend a latte! My Matcha lovers must be wondering why I am hating on the latte! It’s simply because it’s simple. Weird right? Well, the latte is so simple that it is too easy to get wrong and no one wants a bad first impression of Matcha. The wrong milk, the wrong grade, the wrong ratio all will give you the wrong result and that result is a bad Matcha experience. So, Matcha babies aka beginners here’s what you do: Grab a fresh lemon, make lemonade and add your whisked Matcha. Pour that over some ice and you have for yourself an incredible, refreshing drink that is quick and delicious!
