Coffee Shop Innovation Expo 2019
Coffee Shop Innovation Expo: Europe's leading event for coffee shop business owners.
The Coffee Shop Innovation Expo gathered together the best line-up of speakers and exhibitors, showing business owners the most incredible innovations that the coffee industry has to offer in 2020.
On Tuesday the 19th of November, thousands of excited visitors gathered outside London’s Excel in the cold, all buzzing with anticipation. When the clock struck 10am, the doors to the Coffee Shop Innovation Expo rose, and welcomed thousands of business owners into the showhall.
Over the course of the show, we saw 4,103 visitors engage with exhibitors, researching the latest technology and coffee innovations that will take their coffee shop to new heights in 2020. They came to see an incredible line-up of speakers, and engage with an astounding multitude of exhibitors - and they were given more than they could have imagined. A special mention goes to our Innovation Award winners, who have showcased their incredible and innovative products in front of our esteemed judges:
- Product of the Year Award - OneCup
- Food & Drink Award - Tom's Teas
- Tech Innovation Award - Viva Wallet
Over 250 exhibitors showcased their products and services at the show, and there were 150 seminars around the most interesting topics in the sector to get involved with. As soon as the show went underway, the show floor was packed with visitors making their around the labyrinthine corridors, as excited exhibitors demonstrated their products to eager business owners. The likes of Casio UK, Qualitasse and Calor came to the show to demonstrate the future of the coffee sector.
“It’s been great! Interesting exhibitors, really interesting innovative stuff as well! The sustainability trail is changing the industry. As an industry we can be in our own little funnels, and it’s nice to get out there and see what other people are up to!” Matt Keniston, biobean
"The event was such an interesting event talking to so many different cafes and catering companies both old and new. It was truly humbling and encouraging for a new environmental startup like mine to receive so much interest and support from the coffee shop establishment. I made many lasting connections from the sustainability trail and look forward to the next exhibition in 2020." Harrison Hall, OneCup
“I really enjoyed the show, especially being given the opportunity to judge the innovation competition and not only be on a panel talk, but also to host one. I felt that the show was a really diverse mix of stands and attendees. I would be interested in returning next year and would love to be a keynote speaker this time round. Thank you for a great show and inviting me to be a part of it!” Tom Booth, Algrano
The Coffee Shop Innovation Expo is dedicated to providing the most varied marketplace of products and services for business owners looking to set their coffee shops alight in 2020, but the show isn’t all about shiny exhibitor stands and sales meetings. The keynote and seminar line-up at the show is one of the highlights of the whole event, as some of the industry’s brightest minds and thought leaders take to the stage and educate the visitor cohorts about the sectors current topics. This year, we saw experts like Hannah McKay from Caffe Nero, Paolo Peretti from Patisserie Valerie, and Kimberley Lasi from Pret A Manger. Our star-studded line-up of speakers was an incredible sight to behold, as keynote theaters quickly filled to bursting to listen to the range of topics on offer.
“Excellent day out at the Coffee Shop Innovation Expo” Ben Thompson, Bullet Cafe
The range of activities at the show was astounding, and one of the highlights was the packed timetable of panel debates. Giving visitors the opportunity to get involved with the topics of the moment, as well as learn invaluable insight from the experts, the panel debates are a fantastic way of getting questions answered in a friendly and informal conversation. The panel theaters where always packed, as the friendly conversations resonated with delegates and experts alike. Topics ranged from workforce management and accounting to digital marketing and sustainability.
At the show this year, we introduced the Barista Zone, giving visitors the opportunity to see the masters at work. Showcasing signature blends, roasting methods, brewing techniques and more, the zone saw an incredible number of fascinated visitors learn about the secrets to excellent coffee.
The Snack Zone gave visitors the opportunity to see the sheer variety of snacks that are available to serve in coffee shops. With everything from allergy free snacks to snacks for the health conscious, visitors could try and experience the most delicious snacks on the market.
The Coffee Shop Innovation Expo went beyond our wildest expectations this year, and has been one of our most exciting successes. However, this doesn’t by any means translate to us simply booking the rest of the year off, and letting this year's success let us get complacent. Work is already underway to make the 2020 event an even bigger mind-boggling experience, and we are going to make sure that on the 8th and 9th of September, London’s ExCeL will be in awe. So what are you waiting for!?! Get registered to attend NOW, and get your transport sorted - you can’t miss this one!
