Be on the lookout for scammers

At Just Eat we’re aware that scammers and fraudsters are getting more convincing in their efforts to steal information and gain access to personal accounts.

It’s not an issue that only affects Just Eat Restaurant Partners. Scammers and fraudsters pose as representatives from all sorts of companies. They’ll often appear to be from a company you know or whose products or services you buy. They’re after personal, sensitive or financial info like usernames, passwords or credit card details.

So, always be careful of unsolicited or unexpected calls, emails or messages that do things like:
- Ask you for account, payment details, or passwords.
- Tell you a bill hasn’t been paid, ask you to add a new payment method, or that you’re due a refund and need to confirm your payment details.
- Say they’re from something like “customer support” and need access to your computer, phone or tablet to fix it when you haven’t reported anything.

How do I know they’re who they say they are?

Just Eat, for example, has strict rules in place about what information we will ask you for, how and when.

1. We will never ask for your date of birth, bank details, address or for any proof of identity such as utility bills, or usernames and password over the phone. The only time you will ever need to provide this information is when you first sign up to join Just Eat.
2. If anything changes in your terms we will ONLY ever send you an email and we will never ask you to confirm anything about your contract over the phone.
3. We only ever update software through our own systems, so you won’t need to do anything.

WhatsApp and/or texts

Just Eat will never ask for ANY personal information via Whatsapp or text (SMS) message.

Phone
We may call and ask for (or to confirm) some details, but we will NEVER ask
for your passwords or your banking details over the phone.

Our trusted partners
We work with trusted and reputable partners like Bionic, NSF, Meero and a few others, who are here to help your restaurant with business energy, food safety, food photography and more. They will never send emails asking for private or financial information. They will ask only for your address, how long you have run your business and about your current providers for energy, insurance and telecoms, etc.

Please always be vigilant. And remember, if you’re ever unsure that it’s Just Eat or one of our partners who is contacting you, just hang up and call back.
